Jat clear rail route, agitation continue

Jat leaders clear the rail route between Delhi and Lucknow on Saturday afternoon after Jats agreed to vacate the tracks as per the order of the Allahabad high court. Jaipur-Delhi rail route today which will brings Rail services in the state and northern india to normal in upcoming days. During last 14 days protesters of the ongoing Jat agitation in Haryana blocked the Jaipur-Delhi rail route which lead to cancellation of many trains and diversion of train route but hope now train services will be normal. With the Jaipur-Delhi route, which sees a huge rush of passengers every day, getting affected.
The decision was announced after UP cabinet minister Laxmi Narain Singh and state government officials met Jat leaders in Kafurpur. The central government has also invited Jats for talks. The Jats were on tracks since March 5 demanding reservation in central services and in states of Punjab, Haryana and Jammu under other backward class (OBC) category. The blockade led to cancellation of 760 trains and affected over 1000 trains in last 15 days. Jat leader Yashpal Mallik said that while respecting the high court order and in public interest, Jats have decided to vacate tracks but agitation will continue and they may block the roads to Delhi again if their demand is not met by next week. He said that agitations in Punjab, Haryana and Rajasthan will also continue. "We will announce our future course of action in the evening after the meeting with the central government representatives in Delhi," he said. He said that Jats will not withdraw agitation till their demand is met. Jats already get OBC reservation in UP and Rajasthan.
