Jat rally on March 6 for OBC Reservation

Jat Samiti in Haryana had announced to hold a rally in Mayyad village on March 6 where a youth was killed in police firing in September 2010. The state president of the All India Jat Arakshan Sangharsh Samiti, Hawa Singh Sangwan, said on Thursday that they would hold a Jat Balidani (Jat Martyrs) rally in Mayyad village, which would be addressed by senior Jat leaders of the samiti on March 6 . "We hope that thousands of people from across the state would attend the rally to press for their demand to place Jats in the other backward class (OBC) category. There have been many Jats who had sacrificed their lives for the nation at different times. We are feeling estranged in the present situation as political parties have been using Jats only as a vote bank and no government has taken interest in their welfare", he rued.
Claiming that the people of the Jat community had lagged behind despite being from the food basket of the country, Sangwan maintained that the Jats find themselves in a sorry condition as they had trailed behind in terms of education and employment due to the "wrong policies of successive governments." He said that the leaders of the Jat samiti had been mobilizing people for the rally.
