Jat Community meeting held at Chandigarh to fight against social evils

An international jat intellectual meet was held at Chandigarh on Sunday to deliberate on issues related to contribution of jats in Issues like reservation for jats and preliminary role of khap panchayats in the society and modern India were discussed during the day-long seminar. Participants discussed various aspects of Jat society and discussed at length issues like need for propagation of the ideology of Deen Bandhu Sir Chhotu Ram, history and cultural heritage of jats, implementation of Justice Gurnam Singh Commission report, the need for a strong central organisation and construction of a jat bhawan in Delhi, removing growing unemployment, education and rural development, need for a code of conduct and eradication of social evils in the community.
The one-day seminar was organized by Jat Sabha, Chandigarh, and Federation of Jat Institutions on the eve of 128th birthday anniversary of Deen Bandhu Sir Chhotu Ram. Indian National Lok Dal secretary general Ajay Singh Chautala while addressing the seminar called for a mass campaign against the social evils and lack of education. ‘Only the light of education can eradicate darkness of social evils, injustice, discrimination and other problems in the country. The coming jat generation should be enlightened about contribution of their forefathers so that they could learn from them and implement their teachings in life,’ he said.Punjab finance minister Manpreet Singh Badal called for recognizing the biggest enemy of mankind. ‘Our biggest enemy is within us and that s falling social values,’ he added.
Rajya Sabha MP and senior jat leader from Rajasthan Gian Prakash Pilania, former UP minister Sardara Singh, president of UT Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission Justice Pritam Pal, former Haryana DGP and president of the Jat Sabha MS Malik, MLA Sukhpal Singh Khira, former HPSC chairman DR Chaudhary and former MDU VC Brig OP Chaudhary were among other speakers.
